I started Gladhat when I was 21. I’m now 28. It was my full time job for over 5 years, and I think (I know) I carried an unhealthy level of pride in having escaped the rat race. But while my 20s have been full of so much adventure, joy, and growth, they’ve also brought their share of pain, hurt, and “life is hard, get over it” moments. Fatherhood in particular has been a great teacher. So many things that mattered to me no longer carry the same sustenance. I’ve had “real” full-time jobs for almost 2 years now, with Gladhat sitting on the side dormant or as a bit of an afterthought during that same time period. There were many months that I shouldered a level of shame for not having endured and “made it” with Gladhat. But the truth is, I became a little out of touch with what you all loved and appreciated about this company all of these years. Even in opening back up last Fall, my vision wasn’t clear enough. So as I’ve pondered and prayed over what to do next, I’ve had somewhat of an epiphany. What makes Gladhat so great has always been you... or in other words, this community. It was never about the amount of product offerings or even the products themselves, but instead that we had all somehow found each other on this app or another and felt the same connection through God, nature, hurt or adventure. My vision forward is clear, but I need your help. I’ve decided to strip Gladhat down to the barebones. Going forward, I plan on just making and selling tees. For the time being, no more sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, or stickers. I want to simplify, get back to what made us, us. There will be a heavy emphasis on shirt-of-the-month, collaborations, and stories that make Gladhat what it is. Everything in the current store has been marked down to either $10 or $25.
