A group of five transgender persons was brutally assaulted by a mob of around 40 people in Agartala, Tripura on Friday, 7 October evening, amidst Durga Puja festivities. The incident took place at a shopping complex after the trans persons questioned the derogatory terms and verbal abuses that were being said to them by some women attendees of the event. Videos from the incident also surfaced on social media where the crowd can be seen cheering the assaulters for beating a trans person.
