#OnThisDay 100 years ago, Pulitzer-winning composer and D.C. native #GeorgeWalker was born. 🤩 #GeorgeWalkerAt100 Our recording of Walker's Sinfonia No. 4, part of a multi-year recording project of his complete set led by Music Director @GianandreaNoseda, is available to stream now at the link in our profile. 🔗 In addition to having his works performed & commissioned by the NSO numerous times since the 1970s, Walker was also commissioned by the @kennedycenter to compose his Second Sonata for Violin and Piano to open the Black Music Colloquium and Competition in January 1980.
