Amy has been working as a Personal Support Worker for the past three years.
'One night when I was working on Long Term care unit. I was observing a patient with dementia going through her photo album, looking at the photos, pausing at each briefly and then I thought about it and a lot of dementia patients do a similar thing with their photos, and so this poem came to mind.'
The poem, written by Amy, reads:
'She sat quietly in her chair
Flipping through
The photo album on her lap
Taking a moment
To be with each photo
Before she moved on to the next
The pages were filled with memories
Her mind no longer kept
Yet she held on to the photo album
Knowing it was all she had left'
