It was never just learning “heels down”, but learning how to ask and be assertive.
It wasn’t just about learning how to canter, but learning how to trust again even though there’s a big chance we might get hurt.
It wasn’t just learning to post the trot correctly, but learning patience, simultaneously.
It wasn’t just learning to leave all uneasy emotions and thoughts outside the barn no matter what sort of day you had, but learning to let go because in the grand scheme of things, none of it really matters.
It wasn’t just learning “quiet hands”, but learning how to strengthen my confidence.
Learning how to ride taught me more than riding.
After an incredibly traumatic experience that happened to me last year, being in the barn and being around our horses brought so much healing within me and gave me back so much of myself I thought I’d never regain for a long time. I’m forever grateful. 🤍
