3 years i wrote @peanutdavo with my eye on his jiu jitsu school. ofc many life events occurred in between so every few months id say “i’m coming!” then couldn’t. in june i FINALLY went to puerto escondido for a bday gift to not only photograph, but mainly train myself, as it’s been 7 years practicing brazilian jiu jitsu. it’s one of the hardest commitments i try and maintain while being a working traveling photographer, but it literally keeps me sane lol. if you do bjj you Already know. 12 hour layover one tiny plane 2 no where, met a stranger at a Oxxo 10am on my 35th to rent a car, managed to find my airbnb w spanish GPS — yet i won’t forgot finally stepping on the mat as if seeing a mirage like Ah yes it’s real, all this time. @lacoloniajiujitsu TE AMO! made life long friends within a few days and did nothing but beat ass/get ass beat/photograph and enjoy (real) coconut water in between rolls. my medium format camera broke halfway my trip (😔) but we managed to pull through before her last shot. link in bio 🌞🌞🌞
