When we think of bodybuilding or any of the sports that took place at the Legion Sports Fest this weekend, we often only think of the final day; the results. This final day is the culmination of all the work that already took place. In the sport of bodybuilding, the competition takes place before you step on stage. It is a silent, lonely contest that takes place every minute of every day for months or years before the day you step on stage. The competition takes place in each athlete’s mind; a battle within themselves to do what needs to be done. Every moment is full of choices. Will you choose to sacrifice for your goal, or will you choose to sacrifice your goal? Those who won at the Legion Sports Fest this weekend chose not to sacrifice their goal at that moment. But those who didn’t win did win. The real prize is the evolution of your character. Each choice that you’ve made has made you a little stronger. Each choice, wrong or right, has made you a little wiser. You are more conscious, more present. And next time you face these choices, your decision will be that much better. And on that final day, you will be that much more ready. But most importantly, the wisdom and strength you have gained will be there to guide you in everything thing you do.
