The 4th of July marks the 9th anniversary of my arrival in the US.. but I’ve got to say.. there is not much to celebrate this year. Women’s rights (and human rights) are being eroded by the right and this radical Supreme Court.. (among other things like environmental protections). And I, like many others, am concerned for the future of women and minorities in this country.. Over the past few weeks I have felt hopeless... scared... concerned for our future.. I can’t express this any plainer.. VOTE! Midterms are coming up in November.. and this will be one of the most important elections of our time. Democrats need to hold majority and then some.. for the ability to make any real change. The fate of the US (and the world) rests on the outcome of this election. Vote for your family.. your sister, your daughter, your future daughter, your granddaughter! Vote for your friends! Women NEED you. Children NEED you. The LGBTQI+ community NEED you. Communities of color NEED you. Voting red cause you think that is going to lower gas prices is ridiculous! Majority of republicans voted against a bill to make price gauging at the pump illegal! They don’t care. There is sooo much more at stake beyond the price of gas or inflation .. and lining your pockets should not take precedent over the rights and lives of countless millions in this country. We are headed down a very dark path. Let’s make a stand.. together.
