Being an actor is all about being a chameleon, and while shaving my head was a pretty bold move to do in this industry, I don’t regret it (though I have my days..). I needed to go through the process of cutting my hair in order to better understand who I am without it. I started as a hair model when I was 12. I’ve placed value on it my whole life. Others have placed value on it my whole life. Shaving it off made me place that value in other areas of who I am. I have days where I struggle with it and miss the breeze in my long hair. But then I have days where a girl will come up to me and say how badly she’s been wanting to & is inspired to take that leap. I have days where I feel anything but pretty. But then I have days when I feel like an absolute badass! I can’t hide behind my hair so I have to face myself straight on. It’s hard. But it’s liberating. It’s challenging but I’m strengthening my confidence. Confidence I felt waver any day I had a bad hair day or didn’t have time to make it look good. Confidence I placed in other peoples hands when receiving a compliment on my “beautiful blonde hair”. Now I get complimented on things that mean more to me.. like my abilities. My smile. My confidence. (And the shape of my head, which I never thought I’d experience that compliment but it’s cool). So if you wanna shave your head, do it. You’ll discover a deeper sense of self. And hey, it grows back.
