Introducing our new black and white dip and dunk processor, a Tecnolab DeltaTV.
One of the reasons we moved into our new space was to set up a complete dip and dunk lab, home to our newly acquired machines for C-41, BW and E6 processing. We have spent the last six months refurbishing and testing absolutely every aspect of these machines, along with help from of one of the best photo techs in the industry. We’ve given the machines a Hillvale touch with a new custom 2 pack paint job, usually reserved for cars, which we completed in a makeshift spray booth at Edward Street.
Dip and dunk processing is the most reliable way to develop your film. The film is hung on racks that is, as the name suggests, dunked into tanks of chemistry in line. Unlike traditional roller transport machines, nothing is touching your rolls of film during the development process apart from chemicals and water. This has some major advantages, such as eliminating the possibility of scratches, tears and other processing issues. The machines also allow for precise developing times, meaning pushing and pulling can be achieved down to the second. Everything is controlled and monitored down to smallest detail, from the nitrogen that bubbles the developer chemistry to the temperature and time of each tank in the process.
Our aim is to create a world class photographic facility that is built by photographers, for photographers, and everyone in between. With the acquisition of professional dip and dunk equipment, we’re on the way and excited for what’s coming up next.
