What does it look like to scale biology? Ever wondered what it means to grow materials in a lab? (Hint: where mycelium materials are concerned the reality is more like vertical farming than benchtop petri dishes). At this year’s Biofabricate summit, following an insightful talk by @ecovative’s CEO, Eben Bayer moderated a pertinent panel on what it really takes to scale biomaterial innovations. The veteran mycelium start-up also showcased their AirMyceliumTM technology in the form of both ForagerTM foam and @foragerofficial hides. They also debuted the work they’ve been doing with partners @pangaia on footwear. “Ecovative’s AirMyceliumTM technology unleashes many amazing properties and applications of fungi formerly locked underneath the forest floor.
