I had to jump on this trend and do the big boobs edition. 👙
Do you know what's really struck me this weekend? Men can literally just walk around topless on a hot day, whilst we are judged even if we wear clothes if they are deemed revealing ("she was asking for it" probably one of the most rank sayings).
Tommy took his top off, and not one woman wolf whistled, cat called, called him an attention seeker, told him he should cover up if he didn't want attention. He just gets to exist in his body.
Women have been objectified and sexualised for so long, it's almost subconscious to judge each other and we have to unlearn it. But there really are men (and probably women) out there who think we are asking for it or attention seeking if cleavage is on show - even in this country!
The problem with having big boobs, is that they literally just exist on your body and yet people judge you, make assumptions about your morals and sexuality, or tell you to *put them away* as if you have a choice given they literally stick out on your chest.
I really notice it in the media too - usually it's Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker walking down the beach. He's completely topless but it is always her *flaunting* her body, or *showing off* a glimpse of her thong bikini, or *teasing* her assets.
I really look forward to the day that boys are taught we are not objects and they can control their desires, as opposed to girls being taught it's our job to cover up and not attract attention.
Because, like most girls who have big boobs, this policing and shaming of our bodies starts when we are children. I was 13 when I was told to cover up, to not distract the boys, to not attract unwanted attention. But I never heard the boys being told off for making sexual or objectifying remarks.
The key wording is - unwanted. I can assure you that it is always unwanted. We can't help it if our cleavage shows if we wear a tank top. I can assure you we've probably spent ages thinking of an outfit, worrying if we will look *slutty* (as if our chest size dictates our sexuality), or if we'll be "taken seriously" (because of course it's impossible to respect a woman with body parts). 🤷🏼♀️
