AOFF FINALIST 2022 – DELLA MARIA CANADA – College LaSalle LCIMontreal Models – Samuel Calderón & Juan Carlos Gómez XY Models, Medellín Beauty – El Muñequero CONCEPT – ENTE THORTHU A personal experience as a flood survivor in my home country, a result of dispute between governments involving a dam constructed during the colonial period, makes me create this epilogue collection. I aim to establish irony with the white clothes that politicians regularly wear in the name of purity and justice, and further criticize decisions made at upper ends for their own monetary benefits, which eventually always affect the poor. Ente Thorthu, ‘my towel’, signifies the common household item mostly used after shower in Southern India, which is a result of colonization and trade from Eastern Europe. I use it throughout the collection to remind people to be humble as well as to deal with problems without an assertion of power. 📍EPM – UVA DE LA ARMONÍA Located in Comuna 3, Manrique - UVA Prado de la Armonía is a tribute to inclusion and the celebration of life. UVA de la Armania is a huge tank/reserve of water for the community and it cannot be more obvious linked to the impactful personal experience and the longing expressed by candidate Della Maria throughout her project.
