Open letter to m̶en̶ boys: When a woman tells you she just wants to be friends, do you get angry when she means it? Do you call her manipulative? Do you pit other women against her to co-sign your false narrative and soothe your blatant insecurities? Do you meditate daily but still prioritize division over peace? Will you steal her joy just because you see her shining? Do you villainize someone because your ego is fragile? Do you stamp out her light just because of the darkness you feel? Ladies: When a wounded man tells you about a fellow sister, do you take it for truth before getting to know her yourself? Do you bully her before she even knows your name? When she reaches out for support or conversation, will you turn your back and silence her, furthering your collective oppression as women? Do you put out another sister’s fire just to stoke your own? Do you raise your middle finger and laugh at her pain while simultaneously preaching peace and empathy? Will you feel threatened or lift her up? Listen, I’ve been there. We have all misdirected anger to avoid facing the actual problem (ourselves). But we are in our 30s now (and 40s...) and we have got to learn to put that shit behind us. Idk about you, but I am sick of making myself smaller just to make others feel more comfortable. My fire isn’t going out.
