People are being told to take care this Bonfire Night over concerns that home fireworks displays could cause a spate of fires. It comes after a fire in Southall caused by a firework destroyed a garage, damaged cars and injured a man last week. Emergency calls to LFB’s 999 control room in the month of November also reached a five-year high last year. Up to 2,170 calls were made – 20% of these took place on Bonfire Night. Assistant Commissioner for Fire Safety, Charlie Pugsley, said: “Our advice has always been that it’s safer to attend professional displays rather than using fireworks at home. “If you are holding your own it’s important to ensure you are buying safe fireworks. Only buy fireworks from a reputable, licensed seller and make sure they have a CE safety mark.” 📸 Getty/ LFB #london #londonfirebrigade #bonfirenight #londonfireworks
