There’s a quote I love that says “Everything you make comes back to this Earth as either food or poison.” and I think about that duality a lot with each action I take. Sometimes (ok most of the time) I feel I’m the last person who should be talking about this stuff because I see ALLLL the ways I can do better. So while acknowledging the imperfect place from which I am speaking I’m incredibly honored to have partnered with @aspiration this month to talk about three ways we can be empowered stewards of the places we play in: 💻When visiting a place - research it :) Take 5 minutes to get below the surface of “this is so pretty” and BE CURIOUS about how to be an informed visitor. I’m definitely not perfect but I make a conscious effort to use the internet or local friends/guides to understand the unique beauty/challenges each environment is facing. The more I do this the more I realize the interconnectedness of the world around me. 🌿DIVEST. This one is HUGE and so overlooked. this is where @aspiration is making a super cool difference. Unlike having my money in big banks, with Aspiration I KNOW my deposits will never be used to invest in polluting industries. 💫CONNECT with local organizations doing clean ups, trail maintenance, indigenous restoration projects, etc. A lot of times the biggest barrier for me was feeling a little bit alone in the changes I was making and not knowing where to start. These events are amazing not just for the intrinsic good of getting your hands dirty & helping in a tangible way, but it also introduced me to future friends/mentors/business partners who shared knowledge and enthusiasm for creating a better world one community at a time.
