When I was 12 years old, my eight best girlfriends decided to collectively shut me out because a boy one of them liked had a crush on me. I spent most of 7th grade very alone in my bedroom, listening to the R+J soundtrack on repeat at full volume, weeping and feeling sorry for myself. If only I could have told little 12 yo me that years later, she’d have the chance to share the music, the angst and the chaos of this movie with over 200 people as part of my job, I would have called myself stupid liar.
