I’m in awe. This first batch of hand-bound leather journals marks a surreal milestone in my craft, shaped by new tools, new textures, and the familiar process of hand-stitching. Each one was bound using a French-link stitch, a technique that reveals its beauty in subtle curves and interwoven threads along the spine. It’s strong, flexible, and deeply satisfying to sew. It is a kind of meditative work that demands focus, patience, and persistence. The dark-wash leather carries its own rugged story, soft yet sturdy, with natural marks and color shifts that make every cover a bit different. Some edges are deliberate and clean, while others retain a raw, lived-in feel. Together, they speak of this stage of learning that I am in, where precision and experimentation meet in equal measure. These journals come in two sizes, 6x9 inches and 5x7 inches, each meant to sit comfortably in the hand or on a desk, ready to hold notes, sketches, or creative collages. They feel grounded and timeless, with an essence that encourages you to slow down and write. I simply love them. This dark-wash batch is only the beginning. I’m already working with lighter leathers as I continue to build this collection. My hope is to one day see these journals sitting on the shelves of local shops and offered through small wholesale accounts, but for now, I’ll be making a limited number available on Etsy. Each book feels like a step forward, a visceral record of what I’m learning, and a glimpse of what’s still to come.
