I met Brian Wilson in July of 2008. My good friend had an extra ticket for the Hammerstein ballroom, and by chance, we saw him enter through the side door. I try to give celebrities space, but I was overwhelmed and walked over to him, saying, “Brian, thank you! Thank you!” He reached out to me and shook my hand. I started tearing up, and he laughed and said, “Hey, man, are you crying?” I shook it off and apologized, saying how his music helped me become the person I was proud to be. He said, “Me too! Maybe someday I’ll talk to God and ask him where it all came from.” I hope you found out, Brian. Thank you for all the music and love. Rest in peace.
