Next Wednesday, November 16, @miljohnruperto will be giving an artist talk at 6pm @cantorarts @stanford about his multi-part project on Filipina actress Isabel Rosario Cooper. This special event is is being held in person and will be live streamed.
Ruperto’s screenplay Dimples is based on Cooper and explores the complexity, even impossibility, of reviving figures relegated to history’s peripheries. Dimples is on view at Cantor Arts Center in At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film through January 15, 2023. At Home/On Stage is one of three inaugural exhibitions included in Cantor Arts Center’s Asian American Art Initiative (AAAI).
Following the talk, the Stanford Asian American Theater Project will give a table read of scenes from Ruperto’s screenplay.
Stanford Asian American Theater Project is a student-run organization dedicated to empowering artists and audiences to engage with issues affecting the AAPI community, facilitate discussions of these issues within the Stanford community, and participate in the creation of a more equitable, just world through the language of theater.
