The COVID-19 bivalent booster has replaced previously authorized boosters for individuals 12 and up. If you make an appointment to get a booster, it will be the bivalent version. The bivalent booster has a 50:50 mix of spike protein mRNA sequences from the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and the sequence shared in the Omicron BA.4/5 sub variants. As these are the predominant strains circulating, it is expected this will augment protection against these strains if you encounter them. You CAN get this at the same time as your flu shot - which is what I did this evening after work.
