Time outs work AGAINST your discipline. Discipline means “teaching” and time-outs teach the WRONG thing. They don’t teach emotional regulation; they teach emotional avoidance and suppression. DONT GET ME WRONG they are FAR from the worst punishment. Let’s not overstate the “harm” here. There are just MUCH better options. I discuss a lot of those in my book.
