Hippocrates said, “It's more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."
According to the CDC, 51.8% of U.S. adults have AT LEAST 1 of the 10 most prevalent chronic diseases being tracked in their analysis.
Additionally, the their analysis found that nearly 30% of US adults had 2 OR MORE of the most prevalent chronic diseases being tracked.
The situation is beyond dire when over half of our citizens are chronically ill. We can deconstruct how things have gotten this bad (the prevalence of ultra-processed foods, the tens of thousands of synthetic toxicants released into our environment everyday, the formation of a drug-first medical system that makes hundreds of billions of dollars in profits for pharmaceutical companies, etc).
But, ultimately, reversing and preventing these epidemics of chronic disease doesn’t depend on the promotion of new actions and habits. Sustainable change happens FIRST with a change in our psychology.
