Some postpartum realness. 😝 This was taken at exactly 8:08am the morning after giving birth, which makes Aero about 11 hours old here. Because of the major adrenaline rush from birth, I had maybe one hour of sleep on that first night. 🙃 I was just up all night on that afterbirth HIGH, but also constantly watching my newborn like a hawk. 🙈 “Is he breathing? What’s that sound he’s making? What’s that movement he’s making? Is that a normal amount of spit up? Is the temperature of the room ok? Did he eat enough?” 😅 It’s still wild to me that once you give birth, you’re not only all of a sudden responsible for caring for a brand new human, but you’re also having to navigate all the changes happening in your own body. After being pregnant for nine to ten months, we birth our human, and then have to not only change their diaper, but also our own. 😆 We have to stay extra hydrated, deal with afterbirth pains as our uterus shrinks back into place, monitor how much blood loss & blood clots we are having, use a periwash every time we use the bathroom, give him sun baths to prevent jaundice, make sure our new baby is being fed every 2-3 hours, burp them after every feed, eat enough to stay energized but also help heal our bodies..... etc etc. The list goes on. All that to say - I am so damn proud to be a mother because it sure doesn’t come easy. Cheers to all you fellow mamas out there. Super heroes through and through. 🙌🏼 #pregnancy #postpartum #homebirth
