Lately I've been home writing and and reading in preparation for a summer of creative work. If we've talked at all during the last 2 years you'll know I've been thinking a lot about the future and time and now moving away from even thinking time exists. My work has brought me to surrealism as a form of camouflage (s. Cesaire); as the intersection where two or more conflicting ideas can both be true (or at least offer new ways of knowing) and as a true way of making sense of the everyday, particularly through a black queer experience. It began as a coping strategy but has now found its way to be in stronger conversation with some Greats who have told us this way of being is just 'one' way not 'the' way. Im looking forward to finishing up this year which was largely fueled with learning, experimenting and finding the footing for my work. Can't wait to be back in le dot figuring out how all this shit actually looks.
The writing is an excerpt from the earliest draft of my thesis.
