Let’s start the week with a mini book review!🕵🏻‍♀️ ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE by Ashley Flowers will be published tomorrow (8/16) - I know it’s a cliché to say this (🤣) but I genuinely have heard from a lot of you who are highly anticipating this one so I wanted to share some quick thoughts!!🔎 When I heard that true crime podcaster Ashley Flowers was publishing a debut crime novel, I was *immediately* intrigued. We know I can’t get enough of true crime podcasts, and I was so curious to see how a true crime podcaster would approach writing a crime novel. WELL let me just say: this book totally exceeded my expectations.💯 ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE is a page-turning, immersive mystery that’s just as addictive as your favorite crime podcast. Ashley Flowers’ knack for engrossing storytelling shines through in this book—once you pick it up, you won’t want to put it down.🤓 ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE follows journalist Margot as she returns to her hometown in Indiana to care for her ailing uncle. Twenty years ago, this community was rocked by an unthinkable crime when a young girl - a childhood friend of Margot’s - was murdered. The worst part? The killer was never brought to justice. Fast forward to the present day, and Margot is back in town for the first time in years. When another girl goes missing, Margot vows to solve not just this crime, but the murder of her childhood friend so many years ago, too.👀 ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE moves between the events of the present, as Margot navigates the complexities of life in a small town where everyone wants to know *everything* about everyone else—and where there might be a killer lurking in their midst, and a compelling “past” timeline that follows the events of 20 years prior. This book is much more of a true thriller than I expected—I tore through it and didn’t want it to end!! And speaking of: THAT ENDING. 🤯👀 (if you’ve read this one please DM me so we can discuss!!!) Highly recommend for fans of Karin Slaughter, small-town suspense with a dark side, and anyone looking for a page-turning thriller this summer!! My rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️!
