Meet the artists helping shape the visual home of Audre’s Den. These are the three creatives whose styles and stories stood out. The community will soon vote on their logo concepts through donation. First up: Jahdiel Allen (they them) @whoatethespinachh Illustrator A Jamaican based visual artist whose digital illustrations center Black queerness, joy, and intimacy. Jahdiel’s work imagines alternate realities where queer love is visible, celebrated, and uninterrupted in everyday Jamaican life. Their art challenges traditional ideas of gender and sexuality while honoring culture, identity, and community. (This artist is new to me, but they are DOPE. I cannot wait to see what they create.) Next: Jasmine Gilliam @blknhealthy Interior Designer and Graphic Designer A Spartanburg native with a BFA in Interior Design and a minor in Graphic Design from SCAD. Their work is rooted in creativity, joy, and impact, with a deep love for people, storytelling, and leaving a meaningful legacy through design. (Fellow Spartanburg girlie. 864 stand up.) And: Samantha Fergus "Fergie" @thats_f3rgi3 Multidisciplinary Artist A DC native currently preparing for an exciting next chapter at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Their work centers untold stories, cultural memory, and building an art legacy that sparks conversation and connection. (Long time supporter of mine. Dope person.) Voting opens on Saturday, February 7. Artists will have the week to create their decision for Audre’s Den. We will then set up a separate donation link for each participant. You can then donate to the artist whose work you would like to see as the official Audre’s Den logo. In the meantime, go follow them, check out their work via their personal links, and show them some love! Stay tuned 😊
