5 ways we’ve made CG greener 🌿 #SustainableSeptember is the perfect opportunity to highlight just some of the many ways we work to create a greener space for our visitors, workers and residents of Covent Garden. 🌱Installing our vertical 8,000 plant wall in James Street with over 1,500 square foot of greenery has not only become an iconic photo spot but home to wildlife and aiding cleaner air for the neighbourhood. 🥗Located on Floral Street, the pop up urban farms provide fresh herbs and salads, using 90-95% less water than traditional agriculture. The Square Mile Farms are produced from recycled ocean plastic and offer over 120 edible harvests for the residents and staff of the estate. 🐝 With over 10,000 plants being introduced across Covent Garden, our horticultural team work hard to maintain and flourish our barrows with seasonal insect friendly flowers, welcoming bees and butterflies to thrive. 🚶Since 2016, we’ve introduced multiple new pedestrianised schemes to support cleaner air for Covent Garden by reducing traffic access to our neighbourhood. These actions have reported in air quality improvements, benefitting all those who love exploring the Piazza. 🌧 Reducing waste has always been important to us, that’s why we harvest rainwater to keep our estate gloriously green. Recycling grey water and adding sheep’s wool pot liners to our planters, helping to preserve as much wastage as possible. #CoventGarden #SustainableLondon #GreenerLondon #VisitLondon #Sustainability
