Sometimes we hear stories about people doing extraordinary things in kindness - doing the love and giving it on the daily. Been reading a lot of Shel Silverstein with the dudes lately ♥️ and this poem goes along with this story of a man with a life well lived. He did all the good inside everyday. I got to make a very special piece to honor his kindness and memory - here in his granddaughters words. “Our family lost our favorite person of all time a couple months ago. Anyone who knew my Grandpa adored him and knew what a rare human he was. He was an uncommonly decent person. This photo is a prime example - he was a huge champion of the Shriner's Hospital and did everything he could to spread the message about them and help them raise money. Even though he wasn't a man of great means, he figured out that he could collect can tabs from people recycling their cans at his "retirement" job in the grocery store and turn all of those little tabs into scrap metal money to donate to the hospital. Everyone around town has seen him hauling bags of these things around in his car. This photo is of him with his can tab jar with some of the photos of kids that the hospital helped. We miss him all the time. I wish we could have more people like him around now.
