Perceptions of rising crime have prompted nationwide backlash against efforts to reduce pre-trial detention and end cash bail. But there's no need to continue this "debate." There is absolutely zero evidence that ending or limiting pre-trial detention reduces crime. We already know what keeps our neighborhoods safe, and it's not more incarceration.
