During the ‘Built In’ exhibition, artist Fiona Connor conducted a workshop series with Cal Poly Pomona architecture students, titled “Paint Job / Fidelity” in which Fiona and the students collectively researched the paint history of the Neutra VDL House, positing paint itself as a built-in architectural element. The workshops focused on a single dark blue wall in Dione Neutra’s bedroom, and mined archival materials we have on site including architectural plans, documents, and old paint cans. The workshops culminated in a poster, designed with the help of @benjamincritton and @erik.benjamins that showcased the paint-matched samples of Dione’s bedroom wall paint that each student matched. Visitors to the house can now see the framed poster hung on the wall of the music room on the first floor.
