Yesterday I wrapped up an incredible two days with @undersecretaryarmy Gabe Camarillo as he joined us back in our hometown for important visits to U.S. Army Fort Bliss, Castner Range, and @utep_miners. We began our first day by conducting a helicopter flyover of Castner Range and meeting with stakeholders at a roundtable discussion. We’re so close to designating our Crown Jewel of West Texas a national monument! Next, we joined servicemembers for lunch and toured several sites at Fort Bliss to learn about key infrastructure priorities like modernizing the railhead and constructing new transient training barracks. On Day Two, we met with military spouses at Fort Bliss for a meeting of the @theuso El Paso Chapter where we listened to concerns and shared with the community how we’re working on their behalf. We also toured several more kinds of barracks around the base. We then spent the rest of the morning at UTEP, learning about the Center for Cyber Analysis, and touring the Aerospace Center and the Keck Center for 3D Innovation. Most importantly, we were excited to announce funding for 50 new internships for students that includes opportunities with the U.S. Army. This was an incredible week. We heard about a lot of fantastic progress and achievements, but were also reminded about the important work that continues. I look forward to hosting my good friend again very soon in our beautiful city!
