Using my gorgeous sister-in-law Keri to illustrate the way light will effect your makeup on your wedding day.
The amount, temperature, and angle of the light you’re in will cause slight changes to the way you look throughout the day. Low and direct light will make you appear more flawless, high light casts a shadow downward on the face, overcast light is soft and diffuse, mid-day light is cooler in temperature, sunrise and sunset light is warmer in temperature, etc...Why is this important? Because clients deserve to know what to expect from their makeup throughout the day.
So let’s walk you through the way Keri read indoors and outdoors during her day:
1. Indoors, directly facing a window, around 10AM(lower sun angle)
2. Indoors, facing away from a window
3. Down the aisle, well lit area near the church’s entrance
4. Back down the aisle, facing the windows but less light flooding the altar
5. Outdoors, some sunlight, mid-day(high sun)
6. Outdoors, overcast, mid-day(high sun)
7. Outdoors, overcast, in a shaded area
8. Outdoors, overcast, around 5PM(lower sun angle)
9. Indoors, sun is still up, internal lights are on, facing away from windows
10. Indoors, nighttime, internal lights are on, external lighting used for pictures
Just something to think about!
