I had the most spectacular run on our final day in Barcelona 🥰 I ran through the city at 7am, dark and people making their way to work, past the Gaudi buildings along Passeig de Gracia, up through Vallcarca, through the twisting steep streets and houses, now reflecting the gorgeous yellow of the morning sun, onto forest trail and finally the twisting road to the summit of Tibidabo and the Temple of the Sacred heart of Jesus, a spectacular church at 1750 feet overlooking Barcelona. The view from the top was astounding. Despite being high up it was only 10k from my little apartment, now a tiny dot on the intricate tapestry of city buildings down below. After taking in the view for a while I started the run back down and loved EVERY minute - starting with the gradually twisting road, onto the trails, into the residential streets, back along the busy arterial roads into the city now heavy with commuter traffic, and finally through the central city streets, darting between locals walking their dogs and the first tourists of the day on their tours of the Gaudi buildings and other delights of Barcelona. I finished the run at one of the many amazing cafes with a spectacular chocolate croissant and green tea. High on endorphins I got back to the apartment and stuck on some loud music, and sang my heart out whilst having a shower (thankfully for them my fellow travellers were already out in town) 😂😍 Barcelona is a great city. Amazing food, great people, lots to see, and lots of places to run - so good I ran 4 days in a row as it was impossible for me not to. We had a fab time and a real laugh and of course did not want to come back. But at least I had @parkrunuk to look forward to this morning. Despite getting to bed at 2am after a very late flight back I was not going to miss it.
