“Cages, chains, and breathless air,
captured in droves and drenched in despair.
Worked to the bone with death threadbare
all to exhume,
an antiquated history
encased a hundred feet down in its imminent tomb.
A dual diamond assembled collective,
prescribed a fate by one’s darkest fears.
To which now there’s this repulsive perspective,
equating immunization and dehumanization, all so cavalier.
Oppression’s become flippant
thrown around without weight or implication
as if all the privilege weren’t sufficient
to mark contrast between inconvenience and systematic elimination.
Crying like children that don’t get their way
you’ve left decency behind,
made a church of the lies left on display.
Reinforced by an altar of anger and dismay,
you’d rather be right than admit you’ve been led astray.
Decaying morality, know without a doubt
that divisions and chaos only lead to the brink,
and the choice is here now
to break with these patterns or downwards we sink.
To trivialize the grief and horror of a genocidal past
by thinking one’s rights are at stake or could mean anything as vast,
is to seal a history that won’t remember kindly
those that let pride and manipulation
lead them so blindly.
You've made a mockery
of a forced bravery and resilience.
When what’s owed
is utmost admiration and endless reparations
for the countless stories that will never be told.”

Some words for International Holocaust Remembrance Day and on the absurd notion that vax requirements could ever be close to genocide
