not me dancing to a trendy song at 2 AM after finding out the queer nonprofit i worked for is hiring for the same position i burnt out of but this time FULL-TIME with BENEFITS insurance vacation 🏥🦷👁 AND an equitable manager’s pay rate 💵 instead of the assistant’s rate i was paid at to produce for and manage every social media platform we had AND a whole online editorial review which required me manage dozens of articles simultaneously and oversee & mentor 3 interns! not all this that was packaged in somehow laughably TWENTY HOURS a week for me, ha! not me BEGGING for more hours! HA HA! not a ww manager asking if i’ve tried Monday.com! not them using the graphic i created to hire my replacement! not the fact that graphic production was not even my job! not me secretly splitting out my own pay to a queer friend to design graphics for me because i had too many responsibilities! not the fact that my ED was probably making 6 figures! not the inboxes (i had 3) full of hate mail, late mail, badgering messages to my nonwork IG! not the racism of it all! not queer ppl exploiting other queers in the name of promoting queer culture! yes! i in my thrice suffering and thrice elating! i quit! i had quit! i have quitted! i live the long line of progress that somehow required me to suffer as a deported undocumented queer who makes 14K a year collecting money from a bar floor and to be exploited and gaslit by a white lady in nonprofit because i thought i had no other option! it’s like wow! they knew the job they gave me was actually 3 jobs! it’s like wow! they still owe me an apology and actual STOLEN WAGES for my STOLEN LABOR!! i’m not saying it’s as simple as quit your job but fight your job at every level if they’re trying to exploit you DO NOT COMPLY make it hard for them to fuck with you, be a loud bitch about it! make them file the paperwork, hide the office sheafs, don’t fill out the office census, sign out of slack, blame your wifi, insubordinate the capitalist injustices that steal value from your life! & support your bitter & loud friends because the less shit anyone takes, the less shitty the workplace will be !!
