This is the infraorbital artery exiting the infrorbital foramen. The image is obtained using the Clarius L20 in a horizontal orientation on the medial cheek. The foramen is typical found 8mm below the orbital rim in the mid pupillary line. The foramen has a superior boney shelf and the artery and nerves travel inferiomedially towards the nasal alae. There is a small branch that travels superior to the lower eyelid called the palpebral branch of the infraorbital artery (PIOA).
