Coffee in Good Spirits, where coffee is part of something bigger than itself. It was June 2022, when I took the decision that it was time to learn something new, get again excited about coffee competitions and push myself in a more ‘’unknown’’ direction. It all started with me wanting to sign up to a competition without any expectation or added pressure on myself (by myself) to place high, but only to enjoy the process, learn to love the training sessions and learn new things. It was all going to plan, until I made my first espresso martini with my gesha coffee, and I realised that the world of coffee in good spirits is super tasty with the sensory element to play a big part. Fast forward to September, where I placed 4th in the UK CiGS 2023. It was quite hard for me to begin with as this is the first time I tried this competition, meaning that I didn’t have much of a foundation. With the help of my brother from another mother @vavadis who we’ve been doing all our competitions together since forever, the @watchhouse team @davideoraz @matteofromtheswamps @doyouevenbrew and a lot of inspiration from CiGS heroes (@michalis_dimitrakopoulos @danfellows1 @dimitris_baigkousis @deezwillies and many more), I think I managed to bring a performance on stage that I’m very proud of. After this experience I can tell for sure that learning new things is one of the best things in the world, feeling the support and love during these stressful times is invaluable and training for CiGS is a tiny bit more fun than training for the Barista Championship (we can argue about this :) ).
