Thank you Janine, you helped me shine like a 🌟. When I started rehearsals for this show 2 months ago and learned about the character I would be portraying and @prettydopechristianhope vision of her. I felt inadequate. I’m not sassy, I don’t have attitude, and I surely don’t have a southern accent, or the vibe/strengths of a Black woman from the 70s I thought. Somewhere between that starting point and the shows this past weekend, Janine and I made a deal and she came to life on that stage. It’s bitter sweet putting that character to bed now after she’s stretched me and grown me as a performer and person. I had so much fun being apart of the @am_playhouse showcase. I bonded with my co stars and found new friendships in them. We showed up for each other 3x a week every week for months. We gave each other grace and compassion as we all struggled to find our way in our respective roles but WE DID IT under the collaborative direction of Christian Hope and I couldn’t be more thankful for such an amazing experience. I’m beyond grateful and humbled by all of my family and friends that came out to support me from near and far! It would not have been the same without feeling your love in the room. THANK YOU 🖤 I couldn’t do it without you.
