In a lifetime of unwavering dedication to her country and Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II became a beacon of stability to the people of the United Kingdom and afar. She ascended to the throne in 1952, at the age of just 25, later becoming the longest reigning British monarch –and, at the time of her death, the longest‐serving monarch in the world. She was married to the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh who died in 2021. Her son, His Majesty The King, noted the passing of his mother in a personal statement released moments after her death. He said: “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.” HM is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
