‘See You In The Undertow’ is currently on view in Paul Anagnostopoulos’ solo exhibition ‘When Heroes Fall’. This piece depicts the ancient Greek story of the god, Dionysus, transforming Tyrrhenian pirates into dolphins. Representing the first display of deceit, the myth recounts the sailors attempting to capture the god and sell him into slavery. Using a vessel as a metaphor for the body, Anagnostopoulos explores the themes of this tale as he was struggling with his own heartbreak. His works examine various personal cycles including love, heartbreak and rediscovery.
