Many school mornings are a mad rush for us, so the lunches that are made need to be:

Why go to the effort of making your own lunch❓
👉🏻A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that kids and teens consumed 67% of their caloric intake from ultra processed foods. (This study was of 33,000 kids, ages 2-19, over 10 years) (1)
Over this same time period, the amount of unprocessed or minimally processed foods eaten by kids dropped from 28% to 23%.
What does ultra processed mean❓
1️⃣These are foods that are considered "ready to eat" or "ready to heat" that are made with extracted ingredients, contain little to no whole foods and are often:
-high in sugar
-high in sodium
-high in trans fats
-made with refined starches
2️⃣They also found that ultra processed foods were low in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals.
3️⃣These types of foods often contain things like high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, flavor enhancers, artificial flavors, artificial colors, and emulsifiers, among others.
