☀️Did you know...? Plaza de la raza holds significant artwork! This short series of fun facts will be posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays as part of a project by Edward Zarate as part of his internship. Plaza de la Raza is known for the art exhibits put on view at The Boathouse with the community coming together to support local artists. In 1971, Plaza was donated a piece by David Alfaro Siqueiros. The piece, "Heroic Voice", portrays murdered journalist, Ruben Salazar. The piece set the tone for support of artwork that represents ambition, political engagement, community, and journalism. In 1987, Plaza opens a Frida Kahlo exhibition. This exhibit was the first solo exhibition of Frida's work in the city of Los Angeles. There were more than 30,000 people who attended the exhibition while is was open.
