It is moments like these I realize why I’m doing what I am doing. To have two Somali women on the cover of Vogue is the voice I’ve always fought to have and to share this moment with friends and my sister @iamugbad is so unbelievable. To be able to make a statement and to show my Somali brothers and sisters that we can do everything we put our heart and soul into. I am doing this for all the Somali people who have fought for freedom and to be able to give their kids a better life. My own mom fought for me and to give me the life I deserve and I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without her and all the strong women I’ve had in my life. This one is for them, for my people and to show the younger Somalis to never give up without a flight.
