Triggers are our messengers. They are signals for the parts of ourselves that need healing.
Dealing with them can feel challenging, but act as a powerful tool for growth. Think of every trigger as insight, a gateway to your unconscious behaviours, patterns and beliefs.
I like to use the ‘Recognise/Breathe/Reframe’ - a technique I share in Breathe In Breathe Out.
1) Recognise - what am I feeling, where in my body do I feel it?
2) Calm your breath - your mind will follow
3) Reframe -
• What happened to make me feel this way?
• Is there an explanation that makes sense? • What do I want to do about it - acknowledge the trigger reaction behaviour, is there a better way to deal with this.
This technique involves you becoming more aware of your feelings and thoughts as they appear. It encourages you to accept them, process them and investigate them before letting them go 🙏🏼
