This journey of bringing Tillie to life has been hard work. From the hours spent rehearsing the music - refining the makeup and the creating and acquiring the costumes. I am not a person that believes in releasing unfinished work. My process has always been to practice and master things in private. I realize that’s not common but I do not like to fail publicly. I come from performance. That part was easy. The makeup came over time. It turns out to be an embodiment of many themes I’ve explored through my other mediums and a celebration for everything that I love most. But the hardest part - was believing that I could do it. I could not have gotten to this point without so many people and I’ll try and be succinct. @kewlshrek - thank you for always believing in me and for knowing that if you gave me a deadline I would rip the bandaid off. My brother Stephen: thank you for encouraging me to go back to music. For always accepting and loving me. For the friends that never made me feel like I was insane for thinking I was the star instead of someone who just paints the wall behind the talent @taherehkitty @jakeorlanzo @isaacdavidsonhair Now to the look for the debut: I chose to wear @tableaux_vivants because it is so meaningful to me that Sonia has supported me from me taking photos all the way to me wearing the clothes 😢 I deviated from the usual Tillie makeup colors to be a darker more alien creature because it fit the Science Fiction Double Feature 🎶 intro. (A call back to 10 years ago when I played Frank N Furter in ROCKY HORROR.)
