Breast Cancer Awareness Month!! This one goes out to those survivors who may be down a node or two. Lymph love may not always be “fun” for you. It may not be a self care ritual, but a quality of life ritual, and that’s okay. You roll with the punches and you are resilient. If you’re missing lymph nodes after surgery, you’ll want to follow along with my arm drainage tutorial (in the limbs highlight tab) but then ALSO redirect fluid up your bicep and shoulder cap muscle (deltoid) and over directly to your collarbone. This is route number one. You’ve got 2 other options that we’ll go over later this month. Try this out and see how it feels. Is your arm less heavy? Does the swelling go down? Did you use gravity to help you? So many fun ways to experiment and see what works best for you. Some fluid goes to the armpit (because you still have viable nodes) but you need a little help from your neighboring cluster, the supraclavicular lymph nodes. Ask and you shall receive. A dammed river is cool like that. Liquid always finds a way. It’s just about unstoppable. Stay in the flow friends. For those looking to support fellow humans on healing journeys this October: Let me just say that...if we have the capacity and ability, we should absolutely donate money to breast cancer charities and/or blood as often as we can with the breast cancer community in mind. Howeverrrr...I highly recommend finding a small nonprofit that shares your values and beliefs. For me, that’s going to be @the_breasties and @bcaction. I asked around and did some investigating. These charities do that for me and they’re doing some awesome/great things for women’s health! Check them out. 😎 Name recognition doesn’t mean a charity is always doing the most “good” with their donations. I know my contribution with @the_breasties and @bcaction aren’t going towards suing other charities for using “for the cure” in their title...and I know it’s not lining the leader’s pockets.
