Stoked to be heading back to the @waikikibeachcomber and looking forward to seeing my reclaimed rope panels hanging in the lobby for tonight’s (4/15) opening alongside @kkandmc and @stacygjewlery I hope you can make it out for the sustainable fashion show, music, food, and fun hosted by the @hawaiianaromacafe from 6-10pm for Earth Month. 20% of the proceeds from my artworks will be split between awesome local nonprofits @sustainablecoastlineshawaii and @debrisresearch who do the hard part of collecting this material off the beach! . I ended up spending a grand total of 6 weeks at the hotel last spring while I built a permanent marine debris installation for the nearby @outriggerreef It was a unique experience staying in the hotel for so long and it gave me a chance to explore Waikiki better and get to know some of the awesome hotel staff- like David at the bell desk who I’d catch up with every morning on our walk to the surfboard locker and talk story. The whole project was a peak moment for me and I’m grateful to @outriggerresorts for taking a chance on my artwork and for highlighting the issue of marine plastic pollution front-and-center in their newly renovated hotel... still pinching myself it all happened and am psyched to be back on this island choke full of great people. .
