i wanted the objects for #ancestress to have their roots in icelandic nature, but was keen to avoid anything too sweet or whimsical - trying to keep them somewhere between solemn and celebrational, but still quite wild in spirit. the various visual references for them are from my favourite creatures and plants found in the icelandic landscape : the arctic fox (vulpes lagopus), hrossagaukur (gallinago gallinago), tungljurt (botrychium lunaria) amongst the main ones 🌋 i think i made 16 masks in total for @bjork, musicians & dancers... + also a ceremonial spoon.
