I’ve always been a believer in Cas. A mythical and mysterious storyteller who tells us about the world through his grimy and warped lens. His tales of drugs, DeadchicksTM, and demons narrated my childhood walks to school. Many moons ago me and @mrkthedirector used to scheme ideas for Cas’ music videos whilst playing video games and rapping All Hallows’ word for word after school. My dream was always to be a part of the Deadteam® and create with Cas. So this one was a full circle moment. Cas is great because he’s himself. He’s a weirdo and he doesn’t give a fuck, Cas showed us how being a unique individual amongst a sea of sheep pays dividends when it comes to respect and credibility. “I day dream about going mainstream, MTV Base you can see me in HD, but my blaspheming gets deemed extreme, so I take ecstasy to raise my self-esteem” Cas has nothing short of a cult following. But mainstream approval has sometimes been elusive, as a long time follower of his journey I’ve always felt like this has made Cas an almost legendary figure in the game. Because anyone who knows people within the scene will know that Cas’ music has a legacy that is respected and adored by most of your favourite UK music artists. What makes the legacy of Cas truly immortal is the fact that his sound has evolved beyond the initial years of his gothic sound. His sound in recent times is reminiscent of something out of an 80’s movie, but is still laced with the eerie brand of Cas’ poetry we know and love. I feel like the covert release of Commercial 2 helped to secretly usher in this era of his sound, cemented by the release of popular single, Pat Earrings. Whilst his future and trajectory is unclear, as the man himself is quite discrete about his movements, one thing is certain. Cas is NOT dead. He’s very much alive, and I’m optimistic he has more to say. Long live CASISDEAD, long live @_deadcorp_ , long live @mantra.sw9 Until next time... 👹
